Lorenzen Wright, formerly of the Atlanta Hawks, has been missing since July 18, according to police. Wright played in the NBA for 13-years after starting his career at The University of Memphis.

According to Atlanta police, Wright went to check on his children, who live with his ex-wife in Smyrna, GA. He allegedly left the house while his ex-wife was asleep, around 2 a.m. That was the last time anyone saw him.

"There is nothing on his phone records, no bank transactions, his vehicles are still at his house in Smyrna," said Lt. Norm Dixon of the Collierville Police Department. "It's like he literally dropped off the face of the earth."

The police don't suspect foul play in the Wright situation, but his family does. Lt. Dixon and Wright's family members agree that a sudden disappearance is out of character for Wright.

"The whole thing is not like him," Dixon told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "All of his friends said he's never done anything like this."

Lorenzen went back to the University of Memphis in 2003 to finish his degree. He should be applauded for this feat, since The University of Memphis is not exactly known for producing educational excellence among its basketball players. For most of his career, Wright conducted himself in what was largely a responsible and productive way. No one would expect this to happen to him.

Prayers go out to Lorenzen and his family.
