Woods' greatest strength is his ability to regularly outplay most of the field. While other players may get lucky for one or two days, Woods is typically able to play among the top 20 players nearly every single day of the tournament, which is why he usually has a strong showing toward the end. This recipe for success is highly unlikely this weekend, as this is adding up to be a disappointing season for Tiger.
One thing that no longer works in Tiger's favor is the fear factor. There was a time that Tiger's name on the leader board scared the heck out of his opponents. They'd feed into the frenzy by taking risky shots and imploding at the mere thought of competing with the greatest golfer in the world. But those days are gone, with Tiger becoming just another guy trying to get a win. Funny how things have changed so much since this time last year.
Many of the other players in contention, including Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk, are comfortable competing with Tiger. In fact, the difference in skill sets between these athletes and Tiger Woods is actually quite small. In professional golf, small advantages can make a world of difference, which is why Tiger has remained so dominant. But part of Tiger's power was his commitment to keeping small edges sharp and in tact, and there are some who wonder if he's as committed as he was 10 years ago. I personally don't think that he is. Complacency and personal distractions are among the most persistent threats to a great man's legacy.

A TV sports commentator said that instead of Tiger trying to find his inner Buddhism, he needs to find his inner “Rick James” because Tiger is trying to be something that he’s not; being someone else totally different than who he is in order to satisfy his fans, his remaining sponsors (who he hopes to get back) his ex-wife & critics and it is affecting him mentally and physically along with all his unresolved personal troubles and as a result of all this, Tiger has painted himself into a corner…he cannot be “who he really is” and his comfort zone is gone; the same person in the past that we did not know about pre-Thanksgiving Day 2009 “private Tiger Woods” that kept him on top of his game. …His personal privacy was everything to him and now that the stone has been overturned due to his own foolish neglect, coping in a” now new reality” for him is extremely hard.
Tiger Woods is a serious creature of habit; a stubbon, focused, tunnel visioned individual who needs a certain type of structure in his life (we all have a daily structure and routine that we are used to eventhough we don’t realize it) and that was his key to success and that routine has been abandoned. He no longer has a dedicated “routine structure” to his life and all the stuff (fast lifestyle, the myriad “love” of all those women, cheating etc) that he had before that became a necessary standard for him.
He probably needs it but he cannot “get his freak back on” Right now, he can't even be seen or engage with another woman (homie ain’t getting’ any from anybody right now but he can’t afford to do it) since the knowledge of knowing that if he messes up, the remaining people who support him (personal & professional) will drop his azz and before the cat was let out the bag, that lifestyle was part of his daily normal routine that allowed him to dedicate, stay calm and focus on his game and since this is how he purposely lived for years (and knowingly watching his father do the same thing, his mentor) without any other personal experiences and struggles in his life to relate to makes Tiger a lost soul now on the golf course. Yes the fear factor is gone and his confidence and aggression is terribly shaken.
It is going to take some time for him to get it back and instead of taking time off to find himself, in the middle of all this, instead, he is trying to pressure and will himself to win golf tourmnents when he has all but mentally checked out.

Earl Woods was a significant presence in Tiger's life. I am sure none of the public or private distractions would have been allowed.
