Tiger Welcomed Back by Golf Digest, Commits to the Barclays

Tiger Welcomed Back by Golf Digest, Commits to the BarclaysWhen the Tiger Woods' scandal hit last year, sponsors, partners, and associates slowly peeled themselves away. Hoping not to have any of their images or products tainted by Tiger's transgressions, many companies that had endorsement deals or relationships with the golfer cut him off.

Since the scandal is dissolving more every day, though, and Tiger is back on the golf course, some of these outlets are seeing a window for a safe return to the relationship they had with him. Case in point: Golf Digest.
When the scandal was in full swing last December, Golf Digest announced that they would no longer run Tiger's monthly column on golf tips.
"We respect Tiger's decision to take a break from professional golf and focus on his family," said Golf Digest spokesman Bret Hopman at the time. "Tiger's bylined instruction articles will not be published in Golf Digest during his time away from the game."
But now that some time has passed, Tiger is back on the green and most of his women are slowing disappearing, Golf Digest is welcoming Tiger back in to the fold.


"We have had a long-term exclusive relationship with Tiger that stretches back to his first year as a professional," Hopman said in a statement to CNBC. "He's back playing regularly now, so we have mutually agreed to publish his bylined pieces on a monthly basis."
Tiger's recent play, however, hasn't been much to get excited about. It appears he's trying to play himself out of a funk. He'll try once again at The Barclays, a FedEx Cup playoff that begins on August 26th. Woods is currently ranked No. 108.
