Vikings Star Percy Harvin Collapses at Practice, Hospitalized

Most of America might have expected that the return of Brett Favre was the biggest story at the training camp of the Minnesota Vikings. Well, not quite. The hot topic was the collapse of Vikings player Percy Harvin during practice after suffering migraine headache issues.

During practice, Harvin had what was described as a seizure-like episode, after looking up in to the sky to catch a punt. He has suffered from migraine issues his entire life, and his mother has had them for 30 years.

Once the episode began, Harvin was doubled over and shivering. The players and coaches shielded Harvin from the media, but no one knew what was going on. Given that Harvin has been out of practice for two weeks due to migraine-related issues, most speculate that this was the cause of his most recent on-the-field problem.

"Percy appreciates everyone's concern," coach Brad Childress said in a statement. "He is alert and resting comfortably but will remain in the hospital overnight."

The team continued practice for roughly five minutes after Harvin's episode, then halted practice while he was loaded on to an ambulance.

"It was an eye-opener," said teammate Adrian Peterson. "It's been tough for him. I just encourage him the best way I can."

Triggers for migraines can come from a variety of sources, such as humidity or biometric pressure changes. One of the changes occurs from the glare of the sun. Harvin was a star at the University of Florida before joining the Vikings last year. He was voted Offensive Rookie of the Year last season. He has a bright future as an NFL player, and the fact that he has been so successful while dealing with such a serious problem serves as inspiration for those of us who make excuses for not reaching our goals. May Percy Harvin have a speedy recovery and also a great season.
