Jacksonville jaguars kassim osgood escapes pistol whipping

Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Kassim Osgood had to leap out of a second floor window to escape a gun-wielding man who attacked him and his 19-year-old girlfriend.

Osgood, 30, was watching TV with gal pal Mackenzie Rae Putnal in her game room around 11:00 p.m. Monday night. Suddenly, a man walked into the room with his head covered in a plastic bag. The intruder had a gun in his hand, which he was pointing directly at the couple, and repeatedly uttered the words, "I can't believe you're with this guy."

The man's words were directed at Putnal, whom he yanked away from Osgood by her hair. The stranger hit her with his gun, then pummeled her with his fists. He then turned his attention toward Osgood, whom he pistol whipped, according to police reports.

The still unidentified gunman then grabbed Putnal's cell phone. As the Jaguars cheerleader tried to escape, the man tackled her to the floor. He ordered the couple to sit on the floor but Putnal made a break for it and ran downstairs to her parents' apartment. She managed to get hold of a gun and returned to confront her masked assailant. The two exchanged bullets, but neither was able to hit the other.

In the midst of gunfire, the football wide receiver managed to jam a chair under a window and jump out. It was a two-story drop, but Osgood landed safely on a lawn. He was then able to run to a nearby neighbor's home to summon for help.

The masked man escaped the premises, but not before Putnal was able to identify him as an ex-boyfriend.

Julian Armond Bartletto, 20, was later arrested on charges of aggravated battery, false imprisonment, armed robbery, burglary and violation of an injunction. He was being held without bond at the Duval County Jail.
