Over the weekend, Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand (pictured) suffered a spinal injury, paralyzing him from the neck down during his team's game against Army. With just about five minutes left in the game, Rutgers kicked off to Army after their touchdown. Army kick returner Malcolm Brown was running the ball back, when LeGrand attempted to tackle him, going in head first. LeGrand lay motionless on the field for several minutes after the play, not able to move. He was carted off and taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for emergency spinal fusion surgery to stabilize his spine.

"No one knows," Rutgers Coach Greg Schiano told The Washington Post in regards to whether LeGrand will walk again. "Certainly, there's expertise. But I've done a lot of research in the last 24 hours ... and there are enough stories, starting with Adam Taliaferro ... As I talked to our team, we are going to believe that Eric is going to walk on to that field again."
Taliaferro is the Penn State player who suffered a similar injury 10 years ago. It took him about eight months to learn how to walk again.
"Right now he's scared and unsure of everything," Taliaferro said of LeGrand. "His life has changed forever, but he needs the support of his friends and family and teammates and he needs to stay positive. There's going to be a lot of negative news out there. He needs to block that out."

How very sad, but thank God he's still alive, and I pray that he does walk again!

I am praying hard that he can recover from this paralysis. Folks let's collectively remember him and his family to God. So sad.
