In case you don't know about Loredana Jolie (pictured), you may be better off just giving her a number. She is one of the many mistresses of Tiger Woods, the top golfer who recently lost his marriage due to a never-ending sex scandal. While most men can appreciate Tiger's affinity for the opposite sex, there was clearly something dysfunctional going on in his private life.
While most of us might use the words "big deal," when hearing about the rantings of yet another Tiger Woods' mistress, Loredana Jolie seems to be saying something a little more interesting than usual. When describing her book, Jolie says that her stories about sleeping with the rich and famous can "save millions of people."
I don't know about you, but when I first heard Jolie's words, I immediately thought about AIDS. When someone says that a book about sex can save millions of people, I presume that the author is implying that the book would save them from death. AIDS, from what I know, is the sexually transmitted disease most often associated with death, so connecting the dots might lead us to interpret the worst from Jolie's words.
I am not sure if Jolie was referring to Tiger or not when she spoke of saving lives. Apparently, she makes her money by sleeping with as many famous and powerful people as she can find. So Tiger is probably just another client for Jolie, the same way that Jolie is just another mistress. One can't help but feel sorry for everyone in this circle, since the consequences of the wrong hook up can be devastating.
As for the rest of us, perhaps this is a cue to better understand our own sexuality. Sex is as human as breathing and eating, but responsible sexual choices are a must in today's society. Also, while Jolie is telling stories of the rich and famous, the truth is that many of these seemingly untouchable celebrities make themselves readily available for a hot night with the normal folks they meet in everyday life. So, what they are doing has a direct and immediate effect on what the rest of us are doing.
In fact, on this issue, I will share a thought. When the rapper Eazy-E died of AIDS, I was shocked and saddened, but I wasn't all that surprised, given that Eazy loved to rap about all the women he was sleeping with. My thoughts and sympathies certainly went to Eazy's family and his wife, but I also thought about the hundreds (or perhaps thousands) of women he slept with before he died. I thought about all the people he'd infected, and all of the people they infected afterward. When you do the math, it doesn't paint a pretty picture. Perhaps we have to start being more realistic.
Yes, I've made a massive set of assumptions on the meaning behind Loredana Jolie's intriguing statement. She may just be yet another unknown author trying to hype up her book by telling us that it's the greatest thing ever written. But even so, this conversation is entirely necessary, and it's one we should be having with one another.

Dr. Watkins I for one am glad that the subject of sexually transmitted disease has come up in relation to Tiger and his ladies. To my knowledge, non of the articles or press releases have dared to address this one piece of important information, and have instead focused on the numbers of women, and the skill involved in juggling the relationships. My concern has been for their health, Tigers, the women and his wife! We may never know but I personally doubt that it is possible to go "bare back" with prostitutes, and porn stars and the common everyday groupie without getting having to visit a doctor! Yes, beautiful women have HIV, AIDS, herpes, vaginal warts and other goodies! Reportedly, Tiger did not use protection "all of the time" and took some serious risks! I'm sure his wife and millions of others have major concerns when they discover this type of behavior. Perhaps this concern/presence, etc.... contributed the the multimillion dollar settelment?????

@tanzyp, really now, are you serious? Both you and Dr. Watkins are really reaching to have the words of this dishonorable prostitute have anything to do with the issue of STD's. First to you tanzyp, it is doubtable that you nor the good PhD run in the circles of Tiger and the women he bedded. The reason that is significant is the mentality that is common place in those lifestyles. You have people that awaken in a different city most mornings to find people (both male and female) doting on their every word and waiting to carryout their every request. I might add, without questioning any part of the request. This builds a skewed view of society and causes a distortion of what most of the rest of the world experiences as the thing we call "life". A prostitute/sex worker that is as high priced as those mentioned in the scandal have accepted a truth about their profession, I rent myself to make money. The level of service I provide is based on my(her)valuation of the level of health risk, pain and possibility of legal repercussion. If all three are met, the deed is done. This is different than a sexual groupie which clearly several of the women that Tiger reportedly sleep with are. Ms. Jolie is one of the latter as her intention was to sleep with the famous in order to have later blackmail ammunition or to place it in an embarrasing tell-all book. Her message is to supposedly offer guidance to women on how to keep their men from straying when tempted. She, as seen through Dr. Watkins printed quotes, suggest that her "help" is that she and women like her offer something that is missing at home or a possible unspoken or taboo need that the wives fail to recognize. She doesn't give 2 shakes about the risks that may result from her chosen lifestyle to the disconnected wives. Her outlook doesn't understand the concept of altruism. And tanzyp, with regard to the settlement amount, nothing about the decision concerned itself with the potential of long term health consequences to Elin. It is the purest form of outdated protectionism as applied to the female gender for a principle that is no longer valid. This type of transferral of wealth was intended to allow a "stay-at-home" wife that dutifully cleaned house, cooked meals, washed clothes, provided sex on demand and was dependent on her husband for current and future financial support based on her perceived lack of education, employability and fulfillment of all wifely duties over a sizeable period of years. The thought of her being afflected with a STD was nowhere in the equation. The mere hint that this was applicable is out-right laughable. What is obscene is the fact that so many high-priced divorces do involve such transferral of wealth based on out-of-touch legal precidents. And for you Dr. Watkins, respectfully, I was doing my internship with the physician that treated Eazy during the time of his demise. You have no clue on the method of innoculation of his infection, so don't arrogantly sit and postulate on such things. Then you go and suggest that there was a string of subsequent infections based on his "many women". Do you have any information that supports your assertion as evidenced through claims on his estate? No, you do not have this because the claims were made based on the fathering of children or contracts of failed access to the recording industry. Many of the elders in our community have said it best and I will paraphrase it. If you don't know what you say to be a fact, say nothing at all. Peace

Caregiver 1; No I don't run in Tigers circle, don't know any of the details outside of what has been presented in the media. And, you are correct I really don't know what the book is actually about. What I do know is that the topic of "sex," especially sex with multiple partners is a topic worthy of discussion.
The numbers of HIV positive cases as well as the other sexually transmitted diseases are increasing in the African American community likely due to ignorance and carelessness.
Regardless of why the ladies Tiger associated with knew the risk they were taking in advance, they placed their own lives as well as the lives of others in jeapordy. By now, I hope that they have all have considered the consequences of their actions as it relates to their health. If they haven't then shame on them!
