"Landry came and spit in my face, and that fired us all up, said the incensed Philadelphia Eagles center Mike McGlynn to Philadelphia Sports Daily. The gridiron player claims that Washington Redskins' safety LaRon Landry spat twice in his face during Monday night's game, when his team, the Eagles, destroyed them, 59–28.

McGlynn, who is accusing Landry of "dirty play," went on to say:

"We all want to play the game with all the respect in the world, but when you're disrespectful like that. . . . I just think there has to be more respect for the game than that. It's a terrible thing."

The Landry/McGlynn episode came on the heels of yet another distasteful NFL episode involving hocking up loogies: Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder accused Baltimore Ravens fullback Le'Ron McClain of spitting in his face during a confrontation last week, although the NFL said there was no conclusive evidence of the incident.

Redskins players claim that they did not see Landry, who has a rep for being one of the most violent hitters on his team, spit at McGlynn during the game.

Landry, who did not comment during the Redskins' open locker room period Wednesday morning, vehemently denied the charge after the game.

The NFL is still investigating the matter, and if Landry is found guilty of the charge, he will face a hefty fine.
