The officers approached Ziegler when they saw him hiding inside his car. They were not looking for him, but walked toward him nonetheless. That's when Ziegler hit the gas and drove into one of the officers. He was chased by vehicle for several miles and then on foot.
Ziegler has been charged with attempted murder, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, fleeing in a vehicle and obstruction. Police say they found 85 grams of marijuana and pieces of crack cocaine in the car. He also has several outstanding warrants.
Mayo says that he didn't grow up with his father, but his dad was seen helping his mother, Alisha Mayo, hand out turkeys and hams at Thanksgiving. They live in Huntington, West Virginia.
I admit that a part of me feels for OJ Mayo. When a young man is working to make good decisions and do something good with his life, bad choices by his mentors can serve as a huge distraction. I recall my older brother figure (who was technically my uncle) getting arrested and running from the police when I was in college trying to make a better life for myself. His arrest was sad for me because I looked up to him and spent years trying to help him get his life together. It can be disappointing to spend two decades hoping that someone you love "gets it together" and only watching them continue to make worse decisions over time. It's a very difficult process and I can't imagine the challenges OJ is having as a young millionaire trying to manage family members who might feel that he owes them something.

I thought this was a place to comment, not advertise to sell things that we do not want! If I want to purchase items, I will go to the Department Stores! Stay with the article!
As for OJ Mayo, if he makes his bed hard, too bad, but he has to lay in it! He must have been doing something he was not to have been doing, but, he's an adult, I can bet I will not stay up trying to figure it out!

MAYBE THE OUTSTANDING WARRANTS & DOPE CARRY WEIGHT...
THE ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE, IS UNCLEAR IF THE OFFICERS WERE UNDERCOVER...
IN MANY HIGH CRIME CITIES, YOU DON'T SIT IN A CAR AT NIGHT, WAIT TO ASCERTAIN WHO ARE THE STRANGE MEN APPROACHING YOUR CAR,ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE REACHING FOR SOMETHING UNDER A COAT OR IN A POCKET!
WHY ARE COPS CONSIDERED 'POOR DEFENSELESS CHILDREN', WHEN SOMETHING IS DONE TO THEM...
I HAVE SEEN, ON TRU TV, SEVERAL BLACK TEENS ON FOOT BEING CHASED BY COPS IN A VEHICLE, SOMETIMES PURPOSELY HIT, AND THE CAR ENDANGERING INNOCENT CITIZENS IN THE AREA...
THE COPS ARE NEVER CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER...
I'M SICK OF THE DOUBLE STANDARD AND LAW ENFORCEMENT FOCUS ON MINORITIES WITH SMALL AMOUNTS OF DRUGS...
IF DRUGS WERE SEEN AS A HOMELAND SECURITY THREAT, IT WOULD BE INFINITELY DIFFICULT TO ESTABLISH MAJOR DRUG NETWORKS THAT MILLIONS OF SMALL DRUG PEOPLE FEED FROM AND SOME COPS GET THEIR PAYOFFS...
AS FILTHY AND UNJUST THE AMERICAN CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IS...ZIEGLER SHOULD ONLY BE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED "STREET CLEANING"

OJ Mayo is certainly not to be judge or held responsible for his fathers poor lack of judgment, his father is an adult and is solely responsible for his own actions besides we cannot choose the family we’re born into good bad or indifferent they are our family and sometimes sadly to say they are a great embarrassment to us but as the old cliché goes every man for himself and God for us… I believe what the public should focus on is this young man positive work to try to make a better life for himself and let us pray for him to continue and most of all let us pray for his family…. OJ Mayo my prayers are with you and your family don’t allow this to bring you down you are not responsible for your father’s action.
