"I'm a Christian, I've made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances," Carlson said. "But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did in a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should've been executed for that. He wasn't, but the idea that the President of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs? Kind of beyond the pale."
First of all, I think that most decent Christians would not believe that Tucker Carlson is a Christian. But then again, most of the original members of the KKK also considered themselves to be Christians, so perhaps Carlson's delusional behavior actually makes sense. I'd be curious to see if Carlson believes that the hundreds of thousands of deer hunters and members of the National Rifle Association should also be executed for killing animals themselves. After all, killing an animal is the same no matter what, right?
Secondly, Carlson's insinuation that the life of this black man is worth less than that of a dog is a telling reminder of how the Right Wing is nothing more than a modern-day manifestation of those who've profited from slavery and the execution of black men for the past 400 years (they continue to profit from slavery within the prison system - the only place where the United States Constitution allows slavery to take place). If this were 1840, Tucker Carlson would surely be part of the lynch mob that would have dragged Michael Vick out of jail in the middle of the night and murdered him in front of his family. So, as much as "Tucker the Christian" might want to deny this, he is a direct descendant of those who've been responsible for the Black American Holocaust that we have yet to fully understand in our country. African Americans should have the same disdain for Tucker Carlson that Jews have for Adolf Hitler and his associates. The only difference between the descendants of Carlson and those of Adolf Hitler is that the first group has been able to benefit from good PR and the ability to control the historical message (history is told by the winners), but the truth is that in both cases, the lives of those in the subjugated class were deemed to be worth less than that of an animal. I would say that Tucker and Fox News should be ashamed, but in a country that has yet to honestly confront it's sick proclivity toward racial animosity, they stand proudly on a tragically-destructive tradition that continues to terrorize people of color until this very day.

Excellent article,Professor Watkins.I wonder what Mr.Carlson would think that if in our current legal system applied his way of reasoning, would say Ted Nugent,or a certain former governor/vice-presidential candidate/reality-show star be subjected to the the same punishment that he would like seen given out to Mr.Vick? Just Curious....

Very Well Said, and it's an excellent article. Carson is not a Christian. He's a member of the the Mophia and KKK (aka catholics, a man made religion). God has only one church. He said up on this rock I will build my church. Mathew 16:16 speaks only of one church - Church of Christ.

Funny, how the man who sold the dogs for fighting purposes and who killed many a dog himself before Vick was ever even born never did a damn cent worth of time for it...look up Floyd Boudreaux and what's her name's philandering ex, Jesse James. White guys, amongst many others, who haven't done a dime worth of time for the same crime - and they've been getting away with it for YEARS...they call Boudreaux the "kingpin." And don't forget about the cockfighting...who is protecting the 'poor' chickens? Friggin hypocrites.

I see the comments by the Fox Commentator as racially motivated and racist. Michael Vick stated he made a mistake and he has suffered the consequences of that mistake in this society. To say this man should be killed based on his action is executed is totally crazy. However, this is the ideology of the FOX Network with their racist undertones. It is incumbent upon the American People to hold FOX Network accountable for the comments and actions of its employees. Those who think like FOX watches the network, in my opinion.

I'm an African-American who watches Fox News every day,not because I love it so,but because I live overseas and Fox is the only English language program available.I'd never once watched the cable network before, and have watched it every day for 2 years.
You learn a lot when you follow those whose opinion is different from your own.I heard the segment where Tucker Carlson said that Michael Vick should have been executed for his crimes and at the time there was a panel discussing the Presidents overture and not one person on that panel begged to disagree with him.
Tucker Carlson has been investigating the "left wing"bent of the school systems textbooks and the battle that ensued in Texas over what was to be included and what was to be excluded. This is an issue that affects all Americans, not just sports fans and animal rights activists who've followed the Vick affair.
What a lot of us are ignoring is that Fox is the number one cable news program in America.CNN,MSNBC and all others trail far behind in the ratings and the reason why is that Fox appeals to the majority of people in America who are right of center.
We need to know what is going on in the enemies camp and then you won't be surprised at how they've decided that Obama is dangerous and has to go,and that they are now waging a campaign that will only intensify in the coming months.
You will also see that not every newscaster or commentator is Sean Hannity and Glen Beck. What is lacking is an African-American in the anchor seat. They have one that is on weekends,as a co anchor and a couple of African-American women who appear regularly-Harris Faulkner and Arthell Neville, but more of a Black presence is needed. And I'm not forgetting the token liberal,Juan Williams.

tHIS DOES NOT SURPRISE ME. IT JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT IGNORANCE IS ALIVE AND WELL AT FOX NEWS.tHE THING IS IF IT HAD BEEN A WHITE SPORTS STAR, A SECOND CHANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN EXPRECTED AND DEMANDED. aMERICA IS NOT AND MAY NEVER BE RID OF THE RACISM THAT CUTS DEEP INTO ITS FABRIC EVEN IN THIS 21ST CENTURY.TUCKER CARLSON IS OBVIOUSLY IS NOT A WELL INFORMED OR NOT IN TUNE TO THE FACT THAT MICHAEL VICK HAS SERVED HIS TIME AND SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO WORK AND PROVIDE FOR HIS FAMILY. IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT MICHAEL VICK IS ONE OF THE MOST GIFTED ATHLETES TO EVER PLAY THE GAME OF FOOTBALL.ALSO IT MUST BE NOTED THAT REGARDLESS OF WHAT CARLSON THINKS, MICHAEL VICK WILL PROBABLY SOON SIGN A GREAT NEW CONTRACT THAT WILL HOPEFULLY PROVIDE A LIFETIME OF FINANCIAL SECURITY FOR MIKE AND HIS FAMILY. I'M SURE THERE WILL BE SOME THAT HAVE ISSUE WITH THAT,BUT THEY WILL BE HELPLESS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. SO FOR ALL THE MICHAEL VICK HATERS, AND THERE ARE MANY, BLACK AND WHITE ALIKE,MICHAEL VICK IN THE END WILL GET THE LAST LAUGH......HA....HA......HA....HA....
