From the New York Times:
Plaxico Burress will be released from the Oneida Correctional Facility in Rome, N.Y., on Monday. Television trucks and cameras, which began gathering at the facility last week, will be on hand to record the moment, which comes three years and four months after Burress made a game-winning touchdown catch for the Giants in Super Bowl XLII.
If Burress follows the script designed for him by his various representatives, he will leave without comment, be driven to a nearby airport, then head to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he will begin his new life as a free man.
Burress and his wife have two children, including a daughter who was born while Burress was incarcerated.
"All of Plaxico's family and friends are excited about him coming out tomorrow, and Plax is extremely excited about coming out and getting back with his family and getting back into game-playing shape," said Tony Johnson, the co-founder of Playmakers Sports Management. Johnson and his partner, Clarence Wright, handle Burress's nonfootball business interests.

Unless one knows why he was incarcrated, the article makes it look like his crime was a game-winning touchdown catch for the Giants in Super Bowl XLII.
Why was he incarcerated?
Oh and, Freedom good...Prison bad.
Glad you're out,...I guess.

Well, uh, apparently in the great state of New Yawk, it's illegal to either be in possession of a handgun or to shoot yourself ! Now that only applies to Black males apparently. Isn't New Yawk the same city where uh the Gambino's and Genovese crime families among others live by the gun and ignore the gun laws or maybe someone is too scared to enforce it.
I find it rather odd that Burress would even be arrested let alone incarcerated for ahem shooting himself !

Of course they will not explain why he went to prison, it is the new exceptable culture. It is ok to break the law, three hots and a cot,tv,workoutroom, etc. If this were 50 years ago he would never play professonal sports again. What kind of role model is this?

the article reads he went prison for having a gun with him. bob you say if this were 50 years ago he would never play sports again. however if it were 100 years ago he would never been arrested. not everyone in the lime light has to be a role model for you or your childern, you be the role model. i am a retired sergeant for the calif. department of corrections (state prison). there are no more three hots or weights in prison. it is no vacation in prison so don't make it seem like it is a happy place to be. what does if have to do with anything?

first thing mack he did time in ny not california. If prison is so tough why do so many blacks find themselfs there all the time. cant be too tough! I wouldn't expect you or dummy john linsey to understand responsable behaviour. I guess when lance armstrong shoots himself in a nightclub we can cross that bridge (what a stupid comment)I understand you love the thug and so does the liberal media. Having low self esteem and no responsablity is the black culture and until you grow up you will always be losers. Until the usa holds azzholes like vick, burress and all the other millionaire criminals accountable for their stupid childish behaviour we will also find ourselves in the toilet. You two dolts are part of the problem.

Hey Bob them there Italians in New York who belong to "families" calling themselves the "Gambino's and Genovese's" have broken more laws than the alw allows ! And they are not Black ! Just thought you needed to know that !
You also need to know that Whites break laws too but they go into court under the guise of "mentally incompetent to stand trial" defenses and get off with a slap on the wrist ! Stop spreading that BS about people until you do some research first Bob !
Use the internet as an educational tool you dumb fvck !

Burress was jailed for shooting himself (with an unlicensed gun). It was stupid but hard to justify a long jail sentence or condemnation from true fans. I hope that he will get another chance to continue his football career.

I have no sympathy for athletes who have wonderful families but can't seem to leave the thug (had no biz with a loaded gun) life behind when they become rich and famous! Like I support Vick I hope Buress gets a fresh start, enjoys his family and game he loves! I read my Ravens might sign him! Ray Ray will tell you don't bring that thug sh@ to B more! hahaha
He needed jail to wake his a@ up he has a wife/family still by his side!!!!

what does having a gun have to do with being a thug.we dont know why it was unlicensed, but there are several reasons he may have had one.pawn shops and gun shows have plenty of stolen guns, and do u really think everyone does the proper paperwork?
