New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards is easing the burden of 100 Cleveland, OH high school students and fulfilling his promise to pay for their way through college, a promise valued at $1 million.The Jets player made the promise in 2008, when he told the students he would pay for them to attend any college of their choice if they completed 15 hours of community service and maintained at least a 2.5 GPA while in school.
The students fulfilled their end of the bargain, and Edwards is putting his money where is mouth is and sending each student to the college of his/her choice on his own dime, according to Aol Sporting News. Edwards tweeted over the weekend: "As the 2nd most hated man in Clev & a man of my word, today I will honor a promise made to 100 students in Cleveland years ago. The last of my Advance 100 students will graduate from my program and head off to college on scholarships that I will provide them with. Guys, enjoy and embrace your new beginnings and remember your promise to me, to reach back & help someone else along the way."
Edwards was a first round draft pick for the Cleveland Browns in 2005, and was traded to the Jets in 2009.

I saw this on Black America Web I think. Congrats! We need to teach these kids an education is important.
I was soooo proud of the little boy whose mother drove the van with the kids into the river and he swam to safety. Ray Lewis (B more Ravens) is his mentor. When asked what he wanted to do with his life, he replied "I need to go to college first!" I screamed for joy he didn't say athlete, entertainer, rapper or reality star!!! A mind is a terrible thing to waste.....
So Rhianna I guess Braylon has no problem being a role model and putting his money where his mouth is!!!! I wonder is he a college grad because that does make a difference in his value on edu!!!

I knew it!!! A B10 Michigan grad! One of my daughter's favorite female athletes 3x NCAA Champ is a Mich grad as well. Congrats again Braylon! I'm a Buckeye mom and supposed to hate you but for educating da kids nothing but LOVE! hahaha

Amen! God is moving on the hearts of wealthy men. Either give willfully or God will take it! This is very true. God is preparing a supernatural move and the wealthy best wake up and move by God grace. I strongly believe the wrath of God is on America. The greed in the country can't continue walking over God's people. There are consequences. Thank you Braylon Edwards, God grace is on you.
