Chad Ochocinco Tries Out for Pro Soccer TeamWith the NFL lockout now in full effect and the danger of no football season this fall, NFL players are looking for ways to spend their time.

Some are taking up boxing; others are just taking longer vacations. But for Cincinnati Bengals' wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, he's going back to the sport of his childhood –- soccer.

Ochocinco is going to be trying out for Major League Soccer team Sporting Kansas City over the next few days. The team, formerly known as the Kansas City Wizards, will take a look at Ochocinco and see if he'd be able to compete and play with MLS level players.

"We're always searching for players who can help our team and bring in new talent," Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes told the Associated Press. "We know that Chad is an exceptional athlete and that he loves the sport of soccer, and he did play a lot when he was younger. We're excited to see how his skills will translate once he arrives next week and begins training with our team."

On Sunday, ESPN aired its documentary The Fab Five, a film that digs into the background of Michigan basketball team from 1991 to 1993 and its star players Jalen Rose (pictured above left), Juwan Howard, Chris Webber, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson. In the documentary, the players expressed their disdain for Duke University and their basketball program back in 1991.

These teenagers thought of Duke as a school for Uncle Toms, they thought former Duke Blue Devil and current Phoenix Suns player Grant Hill (pictured above right) was a bi**h and felt slighted that they weren't the type of players that Duke would ever want on their team. And they resented that.

But in an opinion column written by Grant Hill and published by the New York Times, Hill admits to being disappointed by the comments toward him and his Duke teammates in the documentary.

"It was a sad and somewhat pathetic turn of events, therefore, to see friends narrating this interesting documentary about their moment in time and calling me a bitch and worse, calling all black players at Duke 'Uncle Toms' and, to some degree, disparaging my parents for their education, work ethic and commitment to each other and to me," Hill said in the op-ed. "I should have guessed there was something regrettable in the documentary when I received a Twitter apology from Jalen before its premiere. I am aware Jalen has gone to some length to explain his remarks about my family in numerous interviews, so I believe he has some admiration for them.

"In his garbled but sweeping comment that Duke recruits only 'black players that were 'Uncle Toms,' Jalen seems to change the usual meaning of those very vitriolic words into his own meaning, i.e. blacks from two-parent, middle-class families. He leaves us all guessing exactly what he believes today."

The ongoing dispute between NFL team owners and NFL players is bringing out all types of commentary defending both sides. With the players' union deciding to decertify last week, the owners officially locked them out, therefore putting the upcoming NFL season up in the air.

They are fighting over how to split $9.3 billion in revenue, with the owners wanting more money off the top and to extend the season to 18 games. The players want proof that the owners need the money before they agree to taking a pay cut, but the owners refuse to open their books. Everything is at a standstill.

Owners are frustrated, players are angry and fans are irritated.

In an interview with Yahoo! Sports, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson spoke his mind on the negotiations and pulled no punches.

Tiki Barber

Former New York Giant Tiki Barber retired from the NFL back in 2006 amid a bunch of controversy. His feud with Giants head coach Tom Coughlin made headlines, because Barber publicly trashed his team and coaches.

Now he wants to return to the game. Barber filed paperwork with the NFL to come out of retirement.

Too bad it won't be with the Giants.
"We wish Tiki nothing but the best," the Giants said in a statement to the NY Daily News. "When we are able to make the transaction, we will release him from our reserve/retired list."
It really isn't a good time to try to come back to the NFL. There's tension in the labor talks between NFL owners and the NFL Players Union, where pundits are predicting a lockout and possibly no NFL season.
Regardless, it looks like Barber is trying to make some moves, and do it quick. He's on the hook for a $150,000-a-month payment to his ex-wife, Ginny Barber, for alimony. Ginny divorced him after he cheated on her with 24-year-old NBC intern Traci Lynn Johnson while she was pregnant with twins last year. He's also having to drop cash for child support for three children.

Brandon DaviesThe BYU Boys' Basketball team is currently on a roll. With a record of 27–1 (13–1 in their Mountain West Conference), the squad is poised to do some damage in the upcoming NCAA Basketball Tournament.

While Jimmer Fredette is the leading scorer and star of the team, Brandon Davies (pictured) is the team's 6'9" center/forward and is their low-post inside scorer and top rebounder. Now that inside presence is gone, though, because Davies was suspended for violating BYU's Honor Code.
No, Davies wasn't arrested. He didn't get in any fights and he didn't fail a drug test. He showed up to practice on time and listened and respected his coach and team mates.

So what violation did he commit?

He had sex with his girlfriend. It wasn't rape. It wasn't sexual assault. It was legal consensual sex between a couple of 20 year olds. The violation?

They weren't married.

Tyreke Evans Facing Wrongful-Death Suit

Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans (pictured) has been dealing with a murder for more than three years.

Back in November of 2007, when Evans was still in high school in Chester, Pa., he was allegedly driving when his cousin Jamar Evans shot and killed 19-year-old Marcus Reason. Jamar is currently serving a nine-to-20-year sentence for the murder, but Tyreke was never charged. Instead he's being sued.

The Reason family has filed a wrongful-death suit against Tyreke, claiming that since he was the driver and knew that people in the car had guns, he is also responsible for the death of Marcus. The trial is set to begin on July 13th against Tyreke and three other defendants.

According to police, Jack was speeding in a black Mercedes, when he was pulled over last Sunday morning around 4 a.m. He was charged with a DUI, speeding and failure to maintain his lane.
